The specifiers chose ‘Sapphire’ from the Montage range for the main floor area in the two level 400m2 Victorian building and also selected ‘Jade’ from the Montage range for the children’s reading area.
Montage was combined with Heckmondwike’s Precipice entrance area carpet in Charcoal, to provide a tough and hardwearing carpet system that will provide years of service for the library. This specialist entrance carpet creates an effective barrier that will protect the Montage carpet in the main library area from outdoor soiling and moisture. The interior layout of the refurbished library has been made more 'open plan' to give it a modern appearance. This involved redesigning staircases and lifts to maximise the usable space within the building. Choosing the distinctive textured surface pattern on Montage helped complement this vibrant new layout to the newly refurbished library. An Architectural Technologist from Calderdale Council, Imran Ali, explains: “We were looking for a carpet that was both robust and durable as well as giving the library a modern feel. Heckmondwike FB’s range of high performance products were perfect as they are capable of withstanding the demands of this busy main library.” Hebden Bridge is just the latest in a long list of libraries in the Calderdale region to be refurbished, as part of a major council renovation programme. Heckmondwike FB was chosen as its products met the brief perfectly and, as a local manufacturer, with a strong sustainability ethos, it enabled the council to demonstrate its environmental commitments.
