Milton Keynes Academy

Supacord carpet tiles by Heckmondwike FB have been chosen for the brand new Milton Keynes Academy, which opened in September 2009. 5,000m2 of Supacord fibre bonded carpet tiles were specified in Anthracite and Steel Grey, with the tiles following a design used on the ceilings, creating a stunning co-ordinated effect. This robust and aesthetically pleasing floorcovering was installed by Hi-Tech Flooring of Dunstable in the classrooms, libraries, corridors and open plan areas of the Academy.

Nick Perkins of Hi-Tech Flooring explains: “This was a large and prestigious project and one where choosing the right floorcovering was very important. The client was looking for durability, aesthetics and long term performance – all of which will be achieved with Supacord. We have worked with Heckmondwike FB on many projects and are delighted with the finished result, which will benefit pupils and teachers for many years to come.”

Supacord is widely used in educational buildings and its durability and wide choice of colours make it equally suitable for office environments, retail outlets, libraries and public buildings.  It also offers anti-slip and antistatic properties, both of which are a major concern for schools, which are looking to protect their students and their equipment.

Robert Mortimer, Sales Director at Heckmondwike FB, explains: “Supacord was the perfect choice for this project. As well as having strong aesthetics, this type of carpet is extremely robust and offers acoustic and thermal performance properties, making it just right for a building that will be used by hundreds of students every day.  Supacord is very popular in educational buildings, as it responds well to heavy wear and tear.”
